Four seven-night sailings on the Mediterranean in 2027

Our kosher Mediterranean cruise sails four times in 2027 aboard the Norwegian Epic: two sailings from Rome to Barcelona, on May 23 and June 20, and two from Barcelona to Rome, on July 25 and August 22. Each is seven nights, with six ports and one day at sea. Our own group is on board: Glatt Kosher Mehadrin meals cooked for the group, a minyan every day, and Shabbat kept together. Before you sail, Jewish Spain, the history of Barcelona and beyond, is worth an evening.

Every sailing is seven nights aboard the Norwegian Epic, Sunday to Sunday. The first two sail from Rome to Barcelona and the last two from Barcelona to Rome. Prices are per person in a double cabin, in US dollars, with taxes and port charges included.

Rome to Barcelona or Barcelona to Rome: which ports differ

The two directions are not the same route sailed in reverse. Rome to Barcelona calls at Salerno on the Amalfi Coast, Catania in Sicily, Livorno, Marseille and Ibiza. Barcelona to Rome calls at Marseille, Nice and Monaco, Livorno, Messina in Sicily and the Amalfi Coast. Both stop at Marseille, Livorno, Sicily and the Amalfi Coast; Ibiza is on the Rome to Barcelona sailings only, and Nice and Monaco on the Barcelona to Rome sailings only. Kashrut

A kosher kitchen for the group, on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship

The ship carries its own guests; our group eats apart from them. Every meal is Glatt Kosher Mehadrin, freshly prepared for the group alone by an executive kosher chef, under mashgichim who are responsible for the kosher kitchen, and served in a dining area that is ours.

Everything is Chalav Yisrael, Pat Yisrael and Bishul Yisrael. We choose a ship for its willingness to meet our kashrut needs, and our own cook and mashgiach sail with the group.

The ship

Your cabin on the Norwegian Epic

There are three kinds of cabin: an inside stateroom, a balcony stateroom and a club balcony suite. Prices are per person, two to a cabin. On a Norwegian Cruise Line ship you keep your own hours on board, and our group keeps its own dining area.

Inside Stateroom: An inside cabin for two, 128 to 174 sq. ft., with twin beds that convert to a queen and a shower room. The best value on board.
Balcony Stateroom: About 200 sq. ft. with a 40 sq. ft. balcony and floor-to-ceiling glass doors; beds that convert to a queen, and a sofa bed for a third guest.
Club Balcony Suite: From about 300 sq. ft., with a sitting area, a private balcony, a bath or shower, and priority boarding and leaving the ship.

Times are the ship's arrival and departure at each port as the sailings are scheduled, and may change. Each sailing runs Sunday to Sunday, so Day 6 is a Friday and Day 7 a Saturday.

Shabbat and Torah

Shabbat on board, and a minyan every day

A Sefer Torah sails with the group and there is a minyan every day of the cruise. How Shabbat and the holidays are kept at sea: Jewish cruises.

On every sailing Shabbat falls on Day 6 and Day 7, Friday and Saturday. On the Rome to Barcelona sailings the ship is in port at Marseille on Friday and at Ibiza on Saturday from 1:30 pm; on the Barcelona to Rome sailings at Messina on Friday and on the Amalfi Coast on Saturday. Shabbat is kept with the group, with the Shabbat meals on board.

A cruise is the easy way to see three countries in a week: you unpack once, and the ship carries you from port to port while you sleep. The pace is set by how much you choose to do ashore, with one day at sea in the middle to rest. The ports and their Jewish history are in our Mediterranean cruise guide.

Two beds that convert to a queen, a private bathroom with shower, TV, safe, minibar, Wi-Fi and air conditioning. No window: the most affordable way to sail.
Balcony Stateroom

About 200 sq ft, plus a 40 sq ft balcony

A private balcony behind floor-to-ceiling glass doors. Sleeps up to three, with beds that convert to a queen and a sofa bed; bathroom with shower, TV, safe and air conditioning.
Club Balcony Suite

From about 300 sq ft

A separate bedroom and living area, a private balcony and a bathroom with tub or shower; sleeps up to four. Priority boarding and disembarkation, with concierge and butler service.

Cabin sizes and features are the cruise line’s, and can vary by deck and position on the ship.

The price covers the seven nights on board, every kosher meal and our own program. Flights, shore excursions and travel insurance are extra.

Asked before booking the Mediterranean cruise

When are the kosher Mediterranean cruises in 2027?

There are four sailings, each seven nights aboard the Norwegian Epic: Rome to Barcelona, May 23–30 and June 20–27, and Barcelona to Rome, July 25 – August 1 and August 22–29, 2027. Send an inquiry for the sailing you like and we will send the reservation form.

How much does the cruise cost?

Per person in a double cabin, with taxes and port charges included, an inside stateroom is from $3,150 on May 23, $3,250 on June 20, and $3,290 on July 25 and on August 22. Balcony staterooms and club balcony suites cost more; every price is in the table on this page.

Where does the cruise start and finish?

In May and June you board in Rome (Civitavecchia) on the Sunday and leave the ship in Barcelona on the Sunday after. In July and August you board in Barcelona and leave the ship in Rome. You book your own flights.

Do the Rome to Barcelona and Barcelona to Rome cruises visit the same ports?

Not quite. Rome to Barcelona calls at Salerno on the Amalfi Coast, Catania in Sicily, Livorno, Marseille and Ibiza. Barcelona to Rome calls at Marseille, Nice and Monaco, Livorno, Messina in Sicily and the Amalfi Coast. Each has one day at sea.

Is every meal kosher on the ship?

Can I see Florence from the ship?

Yes. The ship is in Livorno on Day 5 of the Rome to Barcelona sailings (7:00 am to 7:00 pm) and on Day 4 of the Barcelona to Rome sailings (7:00 am to 11:59 pm), which leaves a long day for Florence, Pisa or the Tuscan countryside.

Are shore excursions included?

No. Shore excursions are optional in every port and booked separately. Ask us which ones suit a day in port.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend insurance covering cancellation, medical care and luggage, bought as soon as you book so the cover is complete.
