Pesach programs in Europe: the Elysium in Rhodes

For Pesach 2027 the whole of the Elysium Resort and Spa, a five-star hotel on its own beach in Rhodes, is ours: 300 rooms, every one with a balcony and a sea view, for 600 guests.

The whole hotel is Glatt Kosher Mehadrin for the length of the program, kitniyot-free, non-gebrochts and Chalav Yisrael, with a head mashgiach and a team of six on site. There are scholars in residence and guest speakers, an evening program, a supervised children's camp and a teen program, four Seder options from a private room to the communal Seder led in English, and a choice of 10 or 12 nights. Guided day trips on Chol Hamoed are optional: the Jewish quarter of Rhodes Old Town and the Kahal Shalom Synagogue, the ferry to Symi, Lindos and the Seven Springs. Rhodes runs to the diaspora calendar, and Rhodes airport is twenty minutes away.

Pesach 2026 was in Greece too, at the Seafos in Nafplio: what guests wrote afterward. The two programs in Israel for Pesach 2027 are on Pesach and kosher travel in Israel.

Italy · the winter season

The Italian Alps: a kosher ski week in Canazei

A winter stay at a fully kosher 4-star hotel, the My One Hotel, in Canazei, a ski village in the Italian Alps. You ski the Dolomites by day and come back to kosher meals, a synagogue in the hotel and a full Shabbat.

Every meal is Glatt Kosher Mehadrin: a breakfast buffet you can make a packed lunch from, afternoon tea and cake, dinner each evening and full Shabbat meals. There is no set timetable on the slopes, so it suits a family, a couple or a group of friends, beginners and strong skiers alike. Stays are private: you choose your dates in the winter season.

The Dolomites and the Val di Fassa

Canazei sits at the head of the Val di Fassa, beneath the Sella group and the Marmolada. The Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with more than 1,200 kilometers of ski slopes, and off the slopes there are lakes and villages to walk: Lake Carezza, Lake Alleghe and Pera di Fassa. For the region and the seasons beyond the ski week, see our guide to the kosher Italian Alps; Canazei and the valley have their own guide to the kosher Dolomites. Fly to Verona or Venice; Canazei is about two hours' drive from either.

Jewish heritage

Jewish heritage in Europe, on the way

Every trip keeps Shabbat with a Jewish community or with the group, and most visit the places where Jewish life in Europe has left its mark. The trips built around that history are on Jewish heritage tours.

  • Rhodes: the Jewish quarter of the Old Town and the Kahal Shalom Synagogue, on the optional Chol Hamoed trips
  • Lisbon, Tomar, Belmonte and Porto: the medieval synagogue of Tomar, the Crypto-Jewish community of Belmonte, and a Shabbat with the kehillah at the Kadoorie Mekor Haim Synagogue in Porto; the place guide is kosher Portugal.
  • The Rhine: the ShUM cities of Speyer, Worms and Mainz, Rashi's synagogue and the old Jewish cemetery of Worms
  • Vilnius, Kraków and Warsaw: Shabbat in Vilnius, the Kazimierz Jewish Quarter of Kraków, and the memorial at Auschwitz-Birkenau
  • Kotor and Dubrovnik: the Jewish cemetery of Kotor, and the Dubrovnik Synagogue, one of the oldest Sephardic synagogues still in use, from the 15th century

Kashrut

Kosher in Europe, at every meal

Every meal on every European trip is Glatt Kosher Mehadrin. How it reaches the table depends on the place, and each page says exactly how.

In Rhodes the whole hotel is kosher for the program, kitniyot-free, non-gebrochts and Chalav Yisrael, with a head mashgiach and a team of six. In Canazei the meals are prepared in the hotel, under the supervision of Rav Benzion Rabinowitz, the Admor of Biala. In Lapland our own mashgiach and cook travel with the group and cook every meal fresh at the hotel. On the fjord and Baltic cruises an executive kosher chef cooks for the group, served in a dining area of our own. In Portugal, Lithuania and Poland the group is on full board, and a cook and mashgiach travel with it wherever there is no kosher restaurant nearby. In Scotland a kosher welcome dinner opens the week and Shabbat is catered in Glasgow. In Montenegro dinner has kosher catering each evening, under the supervision of Chabad of Budva and Chabad of Podgorica. Tell us about any allergy or dietary need when you inquire.
