Eight days from Edinburgh to the Highlands, based in Glasgow
Our kosher tour of Scotland is eight days with the group, based the whole week at one hotel in Glasgow: Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond, the mountains of Glencoe and the harbor town of Oban, Jewish heritage at Glasgow's Garnethill Synagogue, and a visit to Auchentoshan Distillery. Every meal is Glatt Mehadrin, and Shabbat is kept together at Garnethill Shul.

Kosher in Scotland, at every meal
Every meal on the tour is Glatt Mehadrin, Chalav Yisrael. A kosher welcome dinner with local Jewish community members opens the tour on the first evening, and the group eats together for the whole week.
A fully catered kosher Shabbat is served at the hotel and at Garnethill Shul over the Friday night, Shabbat day and Seudah Shlishit. Tell us about any allergy or dietary need when you reserve.

The tour is based at a single four-star hotel in Glasgow for all seven nights, so you unpack once. Edinburgh, the Highlands and the coast are all day trips from here, with the group back in Glasgow every evening.

- Day 1 · MondayEdinburgh: Castle and Royal Mile. A guided visit to Edinburgh Castle, overlooking the city from its volcanic rock, then a walking tour of the Royal Mile through the Old Town's medieval closes. In the evening, transfer to Glasgow for a kosher welcome dinner with local Jewish community members.Overnight: Glasgow
- Day 2 · TuesdayStirling Castle, Loch Lomond and Giffnock. Stirling Castle, once home to Scottish monarchs including Mary, Queen of Scots, then a scenic stop at Loch Lomond in the Trossachs National Park. In the evening, a visit to Giffnock Synagogue and its community.Overnight: Glasgow
- Day 3 · WednesdayThe Scottish Highlands: Glencoe and Oban. A drive through the dramatic mountains and valley of Glencoe, one of Scotland's most iconic landscapes, then on to Oban, the "Gateway to the Isles," with free time along the harbor. Return to Glasgow in the evening.Overnight: Glasgow

Community and Shabbat
Glasgow's Jewish community, and Shabbat at Garnethill
Two synagogues anchor the tour's Jewish heritage: Giffnock, where the group meets the community on day 2, and Garnethill, Glasgow's oldest synagogue and one of Europe's finest Victorian ones, for an in-depth visit on day 4 and for Shabbat itself.
Shabbat is kept together at Garnethill Shul: candle lighting and Kabbalat Shabbat, then a full day of services, rest and optional learning, and a Seudah Shlishit with the local community before Havdalah.
Who it suits
Who the tour suits, and what the "whisky tour" name means
Despite the name, this is a Scotland touring week first: castles, lochs, the Highlands and Glasgow's Jewish community, with one distillery visit on day 5. The tasting there is optional, and every kosher meal on the tour is food, not drink.
- It suits travelers who want to see Scotland's history and landscape alongside its Jewish community
- The touring is a mix of guided walks (the Royal Mile, castle grounds, Oban's harbor) and coach travel between the Highlands and Glasgow
- Shabbat is a full day of rest at Garnethill, with no touring
- The distillery tour on day 5 is optional to attend, and tasting is optional within it
- The reservation form asks for a short health declaration

What the Scotland tour costs
The tour is priced at $5,800 per person, sharing a double room. A single supplement of $1,000 applies for a room of your own.
The price covers the seven nights at the hotel, three kosher meals a day, all ground transportation within Scotland with a private driver, return airport transfers, the Shabbat program and entrance to every site on the itinerary. International flights and travel insurance are extra.

When is the next kosher Scottish whisky tour?
The last tour ran in July 2026. The tour is not currently scheduled. Tell us you are interested and we will let you know as soon as the next dates are set.
Is this really a whisky-tasting tour?
No. It is an 8-day tour of Scotland: Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond, Glencoe and Oban, and Jewish heritage in Glasgow. One distillery, Auchentoshan, is on the itinerary on day 5, and any tasting there is optional.
Where does the tour go?
Based at one hotel in Glasgow for the week: Edinburgh (castle and Royal Mile, then again on day 7 for Edinburgh Synagogue and the Old Town), Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond, Glencoe and Oban, Garnethill and Giffnock synagogues, and Auchentoshan Distillery.
