Sixteen days from Udaipur to Mumbai
Our kosher tour of India is sixteen days with the group and an English-speaking tour leader: the palaces and forts of Rajasthan in Udaipur, Jodhpur, Pushkar and Jaipur, the Taj Mahal in Agra and the Old City of Delhi, then south to the old Jewish quarter of Cochin and the backwaters of Kerala, and last the synagogues of Mumbai. Every meal is Glatt Mehadrin, and the two Shabbatot are kept with Chabad in Pushkar and at the Paradesi Synagogue in Cochin. An 11-day option ends in Delhi.

International flights into Delhi or Mumbai and home, and travel insurance, are not included.
Kashrut
Kosher in India, at every meal
Every meal on the tour is Glatt Mehadrin. In Delhi, Pushkar and Mumbai the group eats at the Chabad house restaurants. On the other days dinner is cooked at the kosher kitchen in Delhi, under the supervision of Chabad of Delhi, and delivered fresh to the hotel each day.
Breakfast and dinner are served every day, and on touring days you take a packed lunch. In Cochin the Shabbat meals are at the Paradesi Synagogue. Tell us about any allergy or dietary need when you reserve.

- Agra, one night (day 9), for the Taj Mahal at sunset; Delhi, one night (day 10).

- Three nights (days 11 to 13), with Shabbat in the middle, near the old Jewish quarter.

The touring is full on most days, with walking in forts, bazaars and old towns and drives between the cities of Rajasthan.

Guides and Shabbat
Tour leaders, and Shabbat in Pushkar and Cochin
English-speaking tour leaders travel with the group, with a certified local guide in each city.
The first Shabbat is in Pushkar, a small town around a holy lake. Friday's drive arrives in time to prepare, and tefillot and the meals are with Chabad and the community of travelers who gather there. The second is in Cochin, where Shabbat prayers and meals are at the Paradesi Synagogue, still in use today. The 11-day option has the Pushkar Shabbat only.
The pace
Who the tour suits, and what to pack
This is a long, full tour: eight cities, three domestic flights and several long drives through Rajasthan. It suits travelers who are happy to be on their feet for much of the day and to keep to a group timetable. The group is small, at most 25 guests.
- Forts and old towns mean steps, ramps and uneven stone; the bazaars are busy and crowded
- A camel ride in Pushkar, an elephant ride at Amber Fort, a rickshaw in Old Delhi and three boat trips are part of the days
- Shabbat is a rest day, twice on the 16-day tour
- The 11-day option suits anyone with less time, ending in Delhi after the Taj Mahal
- The reservation form asks for a short health declaration, because some tours are more active than others

What the India tour costs
The January 2027 tour is priced at $6,800 per person for the 16 days, or $5,500 per person for the 11-day option, sharing a double room. A room of your own is a single supplement of $1,000.
The price covers the hotels, the kosher meals, the tour leaders and guides, the coach, the domestic flights, the entrance fees, the activities on the itinerary, the e-visa and the Shabbat program. International flights and travel insurance are extra, as is anything you buy along the way.

When is the next kosher tour of India?
Monday, January 11 to Tuesday, January 26, 2027: sixteen days, from Udaipur to Mumbai. The 11-day option ends in Delhi on Thursday, January 21.
Where in India does the tour go?
Rajasthan first: Udaipur, Jodhpur, Pushkar and Jaipur. Then Agra for the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, and Delhi, old and new. The 16-day tour goes on to Cochin in Kerala for its old Jewish quarter and the backwaters at Kumarakom, and ends in Mumbai.
What Jewish heritage does the tour see?
In Cochin, the Paradesi Synagogue, where the group keeps Shabbat, the synagogues of Chendamangalam and Paravur, and the spice market of Jew Town. In Mumbai, the Knesseth Eliyahoo and Magen David synagogues. Shabbat in Pushkar is with Chabad. Planning notes and background: Jewish India.
Is every meal kosher?
Yes. Every meal is Glatt Mehadrin. The group eats at the Chabad restaurants in Delhi, Pushkar and Mumbai; on the other days dinner comes fresh from the kosher kitchen in Delhi, under the supervision of Chabad of Delhi. On touring days you take a packed lunch.
What is the difference between the 11-day and the 16-day tour?
The 11-day option is Rajasthan, Agra and Delhi, and you fly home from Delhi on day 11, for $5,500 per person. The 16-day tour adds Cochin, the Kerala backwaters and Mumbai, with a second Shabbat in Cochin, for $6,800 per person.
Are flights and the visa included?
The domestic flights are included, and so is the Indian tourist e-visa (single entry, 30 days). You book your own international flights into Delhi or Mumbai and home; send us your flight times.
How big is the group?
Small: at most 25 guests, with places confirmed in order of booking.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend insurance covering cancellation, medical care and luggage, bought soon after you pay your deposit so the cover is complete.
