Our kosher tour of Peru is ten days with the group and an English-speaking guide: Lima on the Pacific, then Cusco, the old capital of the Incas, for Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley and a Shabbat with Chabad, and last two nights in a lodge in the Amazon rainforest. Every meal is Glatt Mehadrin, with breakfast and dinner under Chabad. The 2027 tour runs from Monday, November 1 to Wednesday, November 10, 2027. 10 days: Monday to Wednesday, with an optional night in Lima before the tour starts. Our October 2026 tour ran October 12–21; the 2027 tour follows the same route, November 1–10, 2027.
Where: Two nights in Lima (three with the optional night before), five in Cusco, with Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley as day trips, and two in the Amazon near Puerto Maldonado.

Every meal on the tour is Glatt Mehadrin. Breakfast and dinner are under Chabad: in Lima the group dines at the Lima Synagogue, in Cusco at Chabad Cusco, and at the lodge in the Amazon a mashgiach travels with the group.

Shabbat in Cusco is kept with Chabad: Kabbalat Shabbat and dinner on Friday night, and the tefillot and meals on Shabbat. Tell us about any allergy or dietary need when you reserve.

An English-speaking guide, and Shabbat in Cusco

An expert English-speaking guide travels with the group for every activity on the itinerary.

Shabbat falls in Cusco, in the middle of the five nights there. Friday is a morning of touring, then Kabbalat Shabbat and dinner at Chabad Cusco; Shabbat itself is tefillot, the meals with Chabad and a slow walk through the old city. The Jewish community of Lima hosts the group's first two dinners, at the Lima Synagogue.

Who the tour suits, and the altitude

This is an active tour: three domestic flights, a long day to Machu Picchu and back, and two days in the rainforest. It suits travelers who are happy to walk for much of the day and to keep to a group timetable.

The November 2027 tour is $6,500 per person, sharing a double room, in US dollars.

The price covers the hotels, the kosher meals, the guide, the three domestic flights, the train to Machu Picchu, the activities on the itinerary, the guide's and driver's tips and the Shabbat program. International flights and travel insurance are extra, as is anything you buy along the way.

When is the next kosher tour of Peru?

The 2027 tour runs from Monday, November 1 to Wednesday, November 10, 2027. Our October 2026 tour ran October 12–21. Send an inquiry and we will send the price and the reservation form.

Where in Peru does the tour go?

Lima first, on the Pacific: Miraflores, the historic center, the Gold Museum and the Larco Museum. Then Cusco, for Machu Picchu and Ollantaytambo, Sacsayhuamán and Qorikancha, and the Sacred Valley with Maras, Moray, Chinchero and Pisac. The last two nights are at a lodge on the Madre de Dios River in the Amazon, near Puerto Maldonado.

Is every meal kosher?

Yes. Every meal is Glatt Mehadrin. Breakfast and dinner are under Chabad, with dinners at the Lima Synagogue and at Chabad Cusco, and a mashgiach is with the group at the jungle lodge.

Where is Shabbat?

In Cusco, with Chabad: Kabbalat Shabbat and dinner on Friday night, then the tefillot and meals on Shabbat, and a quiet walk through the old city.

How do we get to Machu Picchu?

By train from Poroy, near Cusco, down through the cloud forest, with stops at Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes. It is a full day, back in Cusco the same evening, and the train is included.

Is the altitude a problem?

Cusco and the Sacred Valley are high in the Andes, and most people feel it on the first day. The first afternoon in Cusco is gentle, with coca or herbal tea on arrival. If you have a heart or breathing condition, ask your doctor before you book.

Are flights included?

The three flights inside Peru are included: Lima to Cusco, Cusco to Puerto Maldonado and back to Lima. You book your own international flights into Lima and home; send us your flight times.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend insurance covering cancellation, medical care and luggage, bought soon after you pay your deposit so the cover is complete.
