The cruise

Seven nights from Rome to Venice, by way of five countries

Our kosher Adriatic cruise sails from Rome and ends at Venice: seven nights aboard the Norwegian Gem, with a port every day. On the way are Salerno on the Amalfi Coast, Catania at the foot of Mount Etna, Corfu in Greece, Kotor in Montenegro, Split in Croatia and Koper in Slovenia. Our own group is on board: Glatt Kosher Mehadrin meals cooked for the group, a minyan every day, and Shabbat kept together. The dates of the next sailing are to be announced.

Kashrut

A kosher kitchen for the group, on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship

The ship carries its own guests; our group eats apart from them. Every meal is Glatt Kosher Mehadrin, freshly prepared for the group alone by an executive kosher chef, under mashgichim who are responsible for the kosher kitchen, and served in a dining area that is ours.

Everything is Chalav Yisrael, Pat Yisrael and Bishul Yisrael. We choose a ship for its willingness to meet our kashrut needs, and our own cook and mashgiach sail with the group.

Your cabin on the Norwegian Gem

There are four kinds of cabin: an inside cabin, an oceanview cabin, a balcony cabin and a club balcony suite. Prices are per person, two to a cabin. On a Norwegian Cruise Line ship you keep your own hours on board, and our group keeps its own dining area.

Inside Cabin
A cabin for two with no window, about 13 m², with a TV and a shower room. The best value on board.
Oceanview Cabin
About 15 m², with a window onto the sea.
Balcony Cabin
Floor-to-ceiling glass doors onto a private balcony, a sitting area, and room service at any hour.
Club Balcony Suite
About 39 m² with a private balcony, a sitting area, a bath and a shower, and laundry or pressing included.

Who it suits

Who the cruise suits, and what the ports ask of you

A cruise is the easy way to see five countries in a week: you unpack once, and the ship carries you from port to port while you sleep. There is a port every day, so the pace is set by how much you choose to do ashore. The Jewish history of Venice, Sicily and the Adriatic ports is in our Mediterranean cruise guide.

  • Our guests are mostly English speakers from the USA, Europe and Israel
  • There is no day at sea: every day brings a new port
  • Kotor's walls and the old towns mean cobbles, steps and slopes
  • The last morning is an early start: the ship docks at Ravenna at 6:00 am
  • The reservation form asks for a short health declaration

Is every meal kosher on the ship?
