Radio and media in Israel

Rabbi Fleisher is a columnist at the Jerusalem Post Magazine and a contributing editor at JewishPress.com.

He joined Arutz Sheva, Israel National Radio, in 2003 as Director of Programming for its English department, and spent seven years there. From 2011 he hosted a talk show on Galey Yisrael radio, which at the time was the only English-language talk show on Israeli broadcast radio, and in 2014 and 2015 he was Director of Programming at Voice of Israel in Jerusalem. The Yishai Fleisher Show continues online and on the Land of Israel Network. His analysis and commentary have been featured on CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, Russia Today, Xinhua and Fox News.

Background

Haifa, New York and the IDF

Born in 1976 in Haifa to Jewish refuseniks from the Soviet Union, Yishai Fleisher moved with his family to the United States at the age of eight.

He returned to Israel to serve as a paratrooper in the IDF, and continues to take part in an elite battlefield reserve unit. He holds a BA in political science from Yeshiva University, magna cum laude, a J.D. from Cardozo School of Law with a concentration in international law, and rabbinic ordination from Kollel Agudat Achim. He speaks Hebrew, English and Russian.
