Morocco’s dramatic landscapes are legendary, from the rolling sand dunes of the Sahara Desert to the azure Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts. Morocco’s intoxicating fusion of French, African, Arab, and Islamic cultures is as intriguing as it is compelling. Discover modern cities dotted with ancient medinas, minarets, and medieval architecture featuring intricate mosaic tilework. Explore a plethora of bustling bazaars, spice souks, and marketplaces where you can shop, see shows, and haggle like a local. Once a hub of Jewish learning, we will explore Morocco’s Sephardic heritage sites including Maimonides’ home and the old mellahs (Jewish quarters) of Marrakesh and Fez. We will spend Shabbat in the 500-year-old Lazama Synagogue and immerse ourselves in the local Jewish community. Day 1, Monday: Casablanca

  • Arrive in Casablanca, the economic and commercial capital of Morocco.
  • Explore the Esplanade of the Hassan II Mosque.
  • Discover the Palace of Mohammed V.
  • Visit the Old City of Medina, do some shopping, and tour the Jewish mellah (quarter).
  • Explore the Habous and Anfa districts.
  • Tour the Royal Palace.
  • Enjoy a traditional dinner at a local Kosher restaurant.
  • Overnight in Casablanca

Day 2, Tuesday: Marrakech

  • Experience Marrakech, known as the most beautiful city of Morocco, and called “The Red City” and “The Pearl of the South.”
  • Discover the waterfalls of Ouzoud.
  • Overnight in Marrakech

Day 3, Wednesday: Essaouira

  • Explore the Essaouira historical fort and shipping port.
  • Visit the Jewish cemetery and the tomb of Rabbi Pinto.
  • Discover the local synagogue.
  • Tour the village of Chichaoua - learn about the famous Moroccan Argan oil and visit a local Berber market.
  • Time permitting, visit the famous Yves Saint Laurent Museum and Gardens in Marrakech.
  • Overnight in Marrakech

Day 4, Thursday: Valley of Ourika 

  • Visit Oukaimeden, 3200 meters above sea level, and the highest ski resort in North Africa.
  • Explore the green valley of Ourika, nestled in the Atlas Mountains, a popular summer destination for native Moroccans.
  • Enjoy a hike by the beautiful waterfalls of Setti Fatma village.
  • Overnight in Marrakech

Day 5, Friday: Marrakech

  • Tour the magical city of Marrakech.
  • Explore the old city of Medina, comprised of intertwining narrow passageways and charming little shops where you can buy meaningful trinkets and souvenirs. Here, you will also find the former Jewish Quarter, or mellah, which captures the original and historic vibrancy of Jewish society in Marrakesh.
  • Visit the Lazama Synagogue.
  • Explore the remnants of Jewish communal buildings and soak in the history of the Jewish culture of Marrakesh.
  • Discover Bahia Palace, one of the major masterpieces of Moroccan architecture.
  • Experience Djemaa el-Fnaa, the main square of Marrakech, containing the main food market where you can shop and observe the various shows taking place.
  • Prepare for an authentic Shabbat dinner.
  • Overnight in Marrakech

Day 6, Shabbat: Marrakech

  • Tefillot at a local Synagogue, followed by a Kiddush and Shabbat lunch.
  • Relax in the hotel or stroll in the nearby market until seuda shlishit.
  • Motzei Shabbat-be entertained with the Berber folklore show, troupes of dancers, groups of singers, acrobatics on horseback.
  • Overnight in Marrakech

Day 7, Sunday: Marrakech – Fez

  • Tour the Moroccan imperial city of Meknes, known as the “Moroccan Versailles.” We will see Bab El Mansour as well as the old synagogue of Meknes.
  • Discover the city of Fez.
  • Check-in at our hotel in Fez, followed by dinner at a local Kosher restaurant and folk show.
  • Overnight in Fez

Day 8, Monday: Fez

  • Enjoy a guided tour of Fez, the religious and cultural capital of Morocco.
  • Experience the panorama of Fez seen from Burj.
  • Visit the old Jewish cemetery and the Jewish quarter.
  • Explore the medina.
  • Tour the house of Maimonides.
  • Discover various craftsmen’s workshops: coppersmith, tannery, caftan workshop, and more.
  • Enjoy dinner at a local Kosher restaurant.
  • Overnight in Fez

Day 9, Tuesday: Fez – Rabat – Casablanca

  • Tour the archaeological sites of Volubilis and explore the hillside settlements of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun.
  • Discover second and third-century Roman ruins at a UNESCO Site.
  • Arrive in Rabat, the capital of Morocco.
  • Explore Kasbah (citadel) of Oudayas.
  • Visit the mausoleum of King Mohammed the V.
  • Experience Casablanca.
  • Enjoy a gala dinner.
  • Overnight in Casablanca

Day 10, Wednesday: Casablanca – Departure

  • Depart for home after breakfast.

Kosher Travelers is committed to providing all meals of the highest quality and under strict kosher supervision. We choose the hotels based on the hotel's willingness and ability to accommodate our kashrut needs and/or the proximity to kosher restaurants if available. In countries where such supervision is not available, we have a cook/mashgiach travel with us to supervise kashrut and prepare our meals.
