DAY 1 FRIDAY: Feb 6 

We will meet in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s vibrant capital city, renowned for its rich culture and lively atmosphere. Here, we will enjoy Shabbat with the local Jewish community, sharing in Shabbat meals and engaging experiences. This day is designed for settling in, relaxing, and getting oriented while taking in the unique energy of this dynamic city. Our stay will be in a centrally located hotel, within walking distance to the Synagogue and Shabbat meals, offering an enriching and inspiring experience in the heart of Buenos Aires.

DAY 2 Shabbat: Feb 7 

Spend a memorable Shabbat in Buenos Aires, home to a vibrant Jewish community of around 250,000—the largest in the country and the eighth-largest in the world. The community is a mix of Western, Central, and Eastern European Ashkenazi Jews, along with a Sephardic minority, primarily of Syrian and Lebanese descent. During our visit, we’ll have the chance to connect with locals, including a special address by the community Rabbi to our group.

Take in the city’s lively atmosphere as you explore its rich culture, history, and attractions. After Shabbat, we’ll dive into the local nightlife with traditional folklore dancing and a night of fun.

DAY 3 SUNDAY: Feb 8 

Fly to Ushuaia and board the ship

In the morning, we will take a flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city and the starting point of our Antarctic expedition. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the port area. Here, you can explore the charming waterfront and take in the stunning views of the snowcapped Martial Range, the southernmost peaks of the Andes. This is also a great opportunity for some last-minute shopping before the expedition begins. Rest assured, you’ll soon receive your complimentary parka and be provided with waterproof boots for use on board.

We will then transfer to the pier, where you will be warmly welcomed aboard the deluxe expedition vessel, M/V Sea Spirit. Settle into your spacious suite and familiarize yourself with the ship, your home for this extraordinary journey. As we set sail, the adventure begins with a schedule of briefings and introductions from the expedition team. After enjoying the first of many gourmet dinners on board, step out onto the open deck to take in the breathtaking scenery and the beautiful evening light as we pass through the iconic Beagle Channel.

DAY 4-5: FEB 9-10

Crossing the Drake

After passing the breathtaking islands of Tierra del Fuego, we head south to begin our crossing of the renowned Drake Passage, where we’ll keep an eye out for humpback and fin whales. Along the way, you’ll likely spot the majestic wandering albatross and other graceful subantarctic seabirds, commonly seen from our panoramic open decks and balconies. As we cross the Antarctic Convergence, the natural boundary of the Southern Ocean, the ship’s advanced stabilizers ensure a comfortable journey throughout. During this time, our expert lecture staff will provide briefings, bio-security procedures, and engaging presentations to prepare you for our arrival in Antarctica. We expect to reach the South Shetland Islands by Tuesday evening.

Day 6-10: Feb 11-15 South Shetland Islands & Antarctic Peninsula

In the coming days, we will delve into the stunning highlights of the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. This region boasts some of Antarctica’s most breathtaking scenery and offers unparalleled wildlife viewing. Sheltered bays and channels are adorned with glistening ice, reflecting majestic snow-capped mountains and immense glaciers. Icebergs of various shapes and sizes enhance the region’s extraordinary beauty. The nutrient-rich waters teem with marine mammals and seabirds, while penguins are seen both foraging at sea and forming large rookeries on land. We will also encounter Antarctic research bases from various nations.

Our journey will begin with the South Shetland Islands, the northernmost archipelago in Antarctica, known for its historical landing sites and abundant wildlife. We will then explore the stunning Gerlache Strait area of the Antarctic Peninsula, a pristine wilderness characterized by spectacular white landscapes, colossal icebergs, accommodating marine mammals, and bustling penguin colonies. One highlight will be the renowned Lemaire Channel, often referred to as the “Kodak Gap” for its photogenic reflection of the sheer snowy peaks.

During our expedition, we will encounter extensive colonies of gentoo, chinstrap, and Adélie penguins, frequently found in proximity to one another. This period is perfect for observing inquisitive penguin chicks as they begin to fledge. Additionally, as it is peak whale season, you can anticipate remarkable sightings of these magnificent creatures.

In this rugged yet accessible environment, wildlife viewing is best enhanced by active adventures. Our expert guides will offer hiking and hill climbing to provide a broader perspective of this pristine polar landscape. Sea kayakers will have the opportunity to paddle amidst seals and penguins in some of the most scenic waterways in the world. For a truly immersive experience, consider spending a night camping ashore, surrounded by the untouched nature of Antarctica.

This expedition promises an authentic exploration experience. Our route and exploration opportunities will be adapted based on weather and ice conditions, with our experienced captain and expedition leader continuously adjusting plans to maximize the advantages of this challenging polar environment

Day 11-12: Feb 16-17

SAIL the Drake Passage

As we return across the Drake Passage toward South America, the adventure continues. Seabirds will remain our constant companions, and there is always the chance of whale sightings in these rugged waters. This is also the time for final festivities, including the Captain’s Farewell Cocktail and an end-of-voyage slideshow. As we navigate the Beagle Channel, we will enjoy a night of smooth sailing en route to Ushuaia.

Day 13 WEDNESDAY:

Feb 18 Disembarkation in Ushuaia, Argentina 

Following a final delightful breakfast on board, we will bid you a heartfelt farewell in Ushuaia. We will arrange a group transfer to the airport for your flight back to Buenos Aires (included). As you reflect on your extraordinary experience in Antarctica, you may already find yourself anticipating your next polar adventure!
